Friends of Stainton & Thornton Green Spaces (FSTGS) The Friends Group are always looking at ways to improve both the safety, appearance and amenity of our green spaces. In order to fund these improvements, we apply to various grant organisations for money. To get funding is becoming more and more difficult, as the funding pot diminishes, and the number of applicants increases.

We need your help to prove to these funding organisations that the money we are asking for will not only improve the area but is “community led”. What we need from you are suggestions for improvements in our area.

The group have come up with a few suggestions as follows: –

   • Drains and footpath improvements between the High Rifts Field and Maelor’s Wood,
   • A field drain at the entrance to Kell Gate Green,
   • Improved footpath from the bridge over the beck and beyond the owl seat in the quarry, bulbs, primroses, and wildflowers in Maelor’s Wood.
