KELL GATE GREEN RE-OPENED TO THE PUBLIC

Update - 20th May 2021

At long last Middlesbrough Council have erected the signs that allow us to open Kell Gate Green to the public. The five signs do not tell the full story and do not have the agreed wording on them, but it gets the message across. STAY OUT OF THE WATER.

The pollution is still in the watercourse, and you must not let children or animals play in the beck that runs through Kell Gate Green. Dogs must be kept on a lead.

Everyone, including Middlesbrough Council, Environment Agency, Parish Council and residents are doing their best to resolve the pollution problem, but it will not be a 'quick fix.'

I would urge everyone to take personal responsibility and observe the signs and keep animals and children out of the beck until the pollution issue is resolved.

Enjoy the space that is Kell Gate Green, but please stay out of the beck.

Alan Liddle – Chair.
Stainton and Thornton Parish Council.

Coronavirus (Covid-19)

As the numbers of Coronavirus (Covid-19) increases in the United Kingdom the government has increased the risk from moderate to high and therefore is introducing measures to slow the pace of infection spread.

These may include self-isolation, if you feel unwell or are showing signs of cold or flu like symptoms or are over 70 years of age. The elderly and those people who have certain illnesses or a compromised immune system are particularly at risk.

The villages have several elderly residents, some of whom live on their own with no close family living nearby to help. Be a good neighbour and offer to help if you can, by getting some shopping or their prescription medicines. In short be a good Samaritan and help if you can.

Two long standing residents, Matt and Julie Williamson from 2 Strait Lane, have offered to do just that. They have offered their services to be the first point of contact should you need help.

• Matt Williamson whose phone number is 07919892838 and
• Julie Williamson whose phone number is 07717476779.

Send them a text message if you need ANY help as they both work full time and may not always be able to answer their phones. If you have access to email, then contact matt_williamson@hotmail.co.uk They will then pass on your request to other local residents who have volunteered to help in this difficult situation or indeed it may be them personally who deal with your request.

These are going to be a challenging few months ahead and I am sure that by working together and following government health guidelines we will get through this difficult time.

This letter is being sent out by and on behalf of the parish council as not all residents have access to email.

If you would like to volunteer to help or have any questions, then do not hesitate to contact me or any other parish councillor. (Details on this website on the Councillor Information page) Stay safe and well and following government health guidelines.
